Our shop sits on Honolulu Avenue in Verdugo City, on the Montrose Shopping Park stretch between La Crescenta and Glendale, where the same family business has operated since 1924. If you are coming from the 210 Freeway, exit Pennsylvania Avenue or Ocean View Boulevard and head toward Honolulu. Street parking runs along Honolulu Avenue and there are free public lots a short walk away on Ocean View and Verdugo Road. Look for the storefront with the red and blue Abe's sign and the key display in the window.
For a key copy, bring the original key. For car keys, bring your vehicle registration or title along with a photo ID, since we verify ownership before cutting or programming any automotive key. If you are having a lock rekeyed at the shop, bring the lock cylinder along with one working key. For a lockout at your home or business, have ID showing the address ready when our locksmith arrives.
No appointment is needed during business hours. Key cutting, lock rekeys, and most hardware questions are handled while you wait. For safe work, high security keys like Medeco or Mul-T-Lock, and larger commercial jobs, call ahead at 818-249-5128 so we can confirm we have the right blanks and parts on hand before you make the trip.
Not every job belongs in the shop. Our van handles home and business lockouts, on site rekeys after a move or a tenant turnover, deadbolt and smart lock installation, and automotive work where the vehicle cannot be driven in. Call during business hours and we will give you an arrival window and a price before we head out.
A knob, a deadbolt, a mortise lock, a commercial panic bar, and a mailbox lock are all different jobs. A quick description, or a photo you can text us, helps us quote accurately and bring the right hardware the first time.
If the lock works fine and you simply want old keys to stop working, a rekey is faster and cheaper. If the lock is worn, damaged, or you want a higher security grade, replacement makes more sense. Not sure? Describe the situation and we will tell you honestly which one you actually need.
For mobile calls, the full address, the gate or building code if there is one, and the best place to park all shorten the visit. For apartment and commercial buildings, let us know if management authorization is required before we can work on the door.
